“The Patient Proton” is a comprehensive report prepared by Dr. Roy Butler, an organic chemistry professor from Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont. He is also a prostate cancer survivor. Roy was diagnosed in 1999 with PSA 9.6, Gleason score 6/7 and stage T2.

As any good researcher would do, Dr. Butler thoroughly evaluated all treatment options. He then chose Proton therapy at Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) in California. Roy's entire story can be found in the “testimonial” section of this website.

After Roy completed Proton treatment, he took a sabbatical from Norwich University to teach at Redlands University, which is about five miles from LLUMC in Southern California. While there he continued to study the technology of Proton therapy. He researched technical papers and reports, and he spoke with doctors, physicists, and other staff at LLUMC. Using this information he prepared a 23-page report entitled, “The Patient Proton.”

Dr. Butler is frequently asked to speak to groups about prostate cancer treatment options and Proton therapy. His presentation also entitled, “The Patient Proton,” is always well received.

With Roy's permission, we are happy to share with you -
