“[Proton treatment] was "as advertised" - painless and with minimal side effects.”
I’m playing golf with my brother this Sunday. It's my 64th birthday. This birthday - and any birthday, really - is meaningful in many ways. First of all, I am above ground! I am about 4.5 years post proton therapy at Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute (HUPTI) and doing very well.
If it hadn’t been for my brother, who is an internal medicine doctor, I am certain that I would have had another type of treatment. My brother had a patient that he had referred for proton therapy at Loma Linda University Cancer Center in California. He had excellent results, so my brother recommended the same treatment to me. Had I not heard of proton therapy from him, I don't think I would have learned it existed. And, I would have never found Bob Marckini's book, "You Can Beat Prostate Cancer."
I was impressed with my treatment. It was "as advertised" - painless and with minimal side effects. I had minor irritation in the last few weeks of treatment, but it didn't last long and it was quickly and totally remedied by simply taking Aleve. My PSA has been on a continuous downward progression.
My life at work, play, and socially is the same as it was before treatment. And yes, everything, still works fine.
All in all, I highly recommend proton therapy. To me it’s the best treatment option for treating prostate cancer.
See you at the 19th hole!
