“The people, the techs, the doctors, the patients afforded me an experience which I never will forget.”

My name is Murray Rosenblatt arriving from Chicago with PSA 6.5, Gleason 3.3.

I was advised by my urologist that radiation would be my best course of action, being connected with Northwestern Hospital the IMRT was the protocol to be used. One of my close friends who was surfing the Internet came across the Loma Linda site and questioned if I ever heard of it? Answering no, I started to do some research asking several medical people in the field and receiving answers oh yes we have heard some data on the facility, but we do not feel they have done enough cases to qualify this proton against other types of radiation.

I continued to research and spoke with 6-9 graduates from Loma Linda who had nothing but the greatest praise for the doctors, staff and hospital. It was then my wife Kathy and I decided to visit Loma Linda and finalize a decision where I would receive my treatments. We left the week of Thanksgiving and met Gerry and the social staff who took us thru the orientation etc.

Immediately I started to feel the love, spirit and professionalism of this facility and staff. Our next step was to meet my doctor, Ivan Namihas and his able assistant Hazel. Dr. Namihas spent more than 2 hrs with us explaining the process and what was going to done, etc. As we left the office Kathy and I looked at each other and both said this is the place for me.

My treatments started in early January of 2003, it sure looked like a long way off to finishing. From the day of my lst treatment in level B, meeting Jenny with the smiling face, to my Gantry HBL with Nancy, Fred, & Peter who were so caring and understanding, I bonded with Loma Linda. The people, the techs, the doctors, the patients afforded me an experience which I never will forget. I have been home over 2 weeks, experiencing no side effects and feeling great.

In closing when we all made a short speech on our graduation night, I quoted Ralph Waldo Emerson who said: What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us. What lies within me at this time and forever will be the caring, understanding, and love from all the Loma Linda Family of which we consider ourselves so much a part. May God Bless You All.
